Better than a Beanbag?

I was reading a local newspaper article declaring that beanbags are back in style. There are some interesting options out there today, I must say. Among the ones discussed in the article though, there was one that wasn’t a beanbag at all — it was an ottoman, or hassock, decorated in textured floral cloth flowers for a just under $400. (If this is in your budget, visit moderndose.com.)

Although I do like the look of this ottoman, it has the same problem I’ve had with most footrests and ottomans: You have to leave them, looking pretty perhaps, in one place

Do Your Grown-up Short Legs Have You Feeling Like a Kid?

April 9, 2009
I just had a wonderful interview with Ken Bloemer from “Planet Eureka!” for a possible appearance on their show about my newly-patented Redema Ottoman Footrest.
During the interview, Ken commented that he hadn’t thought about the need for those of us with short legs to desire support when sitting, as he has long legs that don’t dangle when he sits down. I responded that it can be quite awkward sometimes for those of us with shorter legs to know how to not only sit properly, but even more importantly, comfortably and respectably.
An image from my childhood came to mind. I was sitting in the backseat of my dad’s brand new ‘69 Mustang as we drove off the car lot. Now, this was long before child seats existed, yet I remember being strapped in with my then little legs and feet stuck out straight in front of me. My feet hung slightly over the edge

Of course, I remember how “cool” I felt I was, sitting back there along with my younger brother (who now has this car by the way). I was a kid sitting in the back of a new ‘69 Mustang. But now, as an adult when I find my legs are not touching the floor, they are just not long enough to just easily cross or curl around — I get tempted to sit cross-legged, pull one leg up or something to reduce the awkwardness, which rarely works.
In short, I feel like a kid. But as an adult, that isn’t cool anymore. No way!
I expressed this frustration to Ken, saying how the Redema not only allowed me the benefit of ergonomic comfort when sitting, I now feel more respectable. My feet aren’t dangling like a kid’s. Instead, they are secure, comfortable, and most importantly, not embarrassing or distracting. In fact, I think I look enviably “cool.” Perhaps even dignified.
I have three young boys of my own now. All three of them, especially my youngest, enjoy using a one-chambered-inflated Redema beneath their legs in our van so they don’t dangle. They also enjoy using the Redema that rests beneath our computer desks for the same reason. They are kids, but they don’t have to be frustrated with dangling legs either — not anymore.
I know over the years I’ve asked God more than once,”Why did you have to give me short legs?” Now I know at least part of His answer as I currently enjoy the personalized, versatile comfort of my Redema Ottoman Footrest, even as I write to you now. The discomfort and embarrassment of my short legs propelled me to get this problem solved for good.
I don’t feel like a kid anymore when I have my Redema along. I feel more like a diva, pampered and cared for — almost like royalty, with Her Majesty’s Footstool — only I get the honor of deciding where, when and how to rule over my comfort. Don’t settle for feeling like a juvenile when you sit. Feel like the adult you are in dignified comfort. Why don’t you join me today? Your inner kid will thank you for letting him/her feel truly grown up!
